FAQs
Cummins Generator Questions
What are the differences between Cummins and Generac generators?
Both build automatic standby generators that run on natural gas or propane and start on their own when the power goes out. On new Generac air-cooled installations, Midwest adds the 12-Year Power Plus Warranty; a Cummins carries Cummins’ own warranty. Generac is the brand we lead with, and our Master Electricians recommend the right fit at your free estimate.
What sizes do Cummins home generators come in?
Air-cooled QuietConnect units run from 13 to 20kW, and larger QuietConnect models go up to 100kW for big homes and businesses. We size yours from what you need running, at a free estimate.
Can I monitor my Cummins generator from my phone?
Yes. Cummins Connect Cloud shows the generator’s status, lets you program its exercise periods, and starts or stops it from your phone.
Will a Cummins start in a Minnesota winter?
The air-cooled QuietConnect models are rated to operate down to minus 40°F. Annual maintenance before winter checks the battery and charger so the unit is ready to start.
Does Midwest service Cummins generators it did not install?
Yes. If someone else installed your unit, we still take the call: we service Cummins along with Generac, Kohler, Winco and Briggs & Stratton.
